La Roche sur Yon
During your stay at camping La Bergerie in Achards, visit the surrounding area. To get your vacation off to a great start, we recommend a stopover in La Roche-sur-Yon. This commune in the heart of the Vendée has so much to offer. Spend a day or just a few hours immersing yourself in the city built by Napoleon, full of history.
The stud farm is open all year round and is a must-see here. Discover horses and their world in this 4.5-hectare park. The equestrian arts will be presented. Succumb to the charm of the place. During the summer, you’ll find a wide range of activities:
- June 1-4, La Roche Contemporary Arts Fair Events
- June 9-11, Vendée Cheval festival
- June 21, Fête de la musique
Visit the magnificent gardens of the stud farm, open all day. And from July 1 to August 31, enjoy a horse show, Sunday to Friday, at 5:00 pm.
We can also suggest a visit to Place Napoléon. Since 2014, animals have appeared there. A crocodile, an otter, a hippopotamus, a pink flamingo? The mechanical animals of the square await you. You’ll be able to handle and admire these masterpieces, by the same creator of the Nantes elephant and the machines on the island, François Delarozière.
You can also walk down from the square along Rue Clémenceau, famous for its stores. And head for Square Bayard, ideal for families with its many play structures for the little ones. For all age groups, you’ll find child-friendly play areas in the park.
This family-friendly town makes walking a breeze. Easy access to all amenities: bar, restaurants, bakeries, pharmacy…
